Accessibility statement

This statement covers the SilentSwarm web interface: the landing page, sign in, and the pages behind it (dashboard, pools, buckets, training, inference, administration). The documentation under /docs is a separate site; its state is listed below under non-accessible content.

Conformance status

This interface is partially conformant with BITV 2.0 and EN 301 549 (Chapter 9, equivalent to WCAG 2.1 Level AA). Partially conformant means most requirements are met and some are not yet; those are listed below. We also test against the new WCAG 2.2 Level AA criteria, which the next edition of EN 301 549 adopts.

What is accessible

Everything works with a keyboard. A "Skip to main content" link bypasses the navigation. Keyboard focus is always visible and is never hidden under the top bar, a banner or a notification.
Colours meet the contrast requirements in the dark and the light theme. The theme can follow the system setting, including Windows contrast themes. Nothing is conveyed by colour alone.
Every page works at 320 pixels wide (400% zoom) without scrolling sideways. Tables then become cards, or scroll inside their own keyboard-scrollable region.
Controls are at least 24 by 24 pixels, or spaced far enough apart. Nothing needs dragging: files can be chosen with a click too.
Charts have a text alternative. The training-loss trend is described in a sentence and can be shown as a table.
Regions that update continuously (training progress, node status, model status) are announced to screen readers as a summary every few seconds at most, not on every change.
Two minutes before a session ends, a dialog says so; one click keeps you signed in.
Help (the documentation) is linked in the same place on every page: in the footer and, once signed in, in the sidebar and the account menu.

Non-accessible content

The interface is only partly available in German. Navigation, the account menu and the legal pages are translated. The content of the working pages is English only for now. Those parts are marked up as English in the source, so a screen reader pronounces them correctly.
There is no German Sign Language video yet. An explanation in Leichte Sprache (plain German) is available.
Screen-reader testing is still outstanding. The interface has not yet been checked by hand with NVDA, JAWS or VoiceOver, nor by people with disabilities, so there may be places that are marked up correctly but announced in a confusing way.
The swarm graph in the training view shows a topology that no single sentence renders usefully. The sentence above it and the table below it carry the same information as text.
The documentation under /docs is built with a different tool. The automated scan covers it and, since this review, is a release gate; it checks the default dark palette, the light one by sampling. The user-guide screenshots have alternative text but no long description; the text around them describes the same steps.
Third-party content: replies in the inference view are generated by language models. Diagrams and formulas a model writes are rendered, but have no text alternative beyond their source. Linked external sites (such as GitHub) are outside this statement.
No report from an accredited testing body exists. A formal BITV-Test has not been carried out.

How this statement was prepared

This statement was prepared and last reviewed on 2026-10-09, by self-assessment:

an automated pass over every page with axe-core, in the dark and the light theme, at 1400 and 320 pixels wide;
computed contrast ratios for every colour pair of both themes;
measured target sizes of every control (WCAG 2.5.8), a check that keyboard focus is never hidden (WCAG 2.4.11), and a check that no table is cropped at 320 pixels;
an automated keyboard-only walkthrough: register, create a pool, add a node, open inference, extend the session.

Testing with screen readers, at 200% text size and in Windows contrast themes is done by hand; it is still outstanding for this version.

Enforcement procedure

If our response to your feedback does not satisfy you, you can contact the conciliation body under section 16 of the German Disability Equality Act (Schlichtungsstelle nach § 16 BGG). It mediates between people with disabilities and federal public bodies. The procedure is free of charge and needs no legal representation.

This deployment has no German Sign Language explanation yet. That is a known gap rather than an omission. Operators can supply one by pointing SWARM_DGS_VIDEO_URL at a video file; it is embedded here.
